Reviews of STANLEY

This picture book aims to reframe this image. Readers meet Stanley, on the search for the perfect place to build his egg mound. However, he is frequently thwarted and shooed away by picknickers, gardeners, children playing, dogs and angry gardeners. Eventually, he creates a nest in a quiet spot outside of town, beneath a mango tree, guarding it from predators until the chicks hatch. Job done!

Written in rhyming couplets, the book maintains an even rhythm and the illustrations reflect the text well. A fact page at the back of the book gives further details about these unique birds.
